I sketched some character ideas for future coming animation assignment. Well, I'm not quite satisfied with these designs yet, I will draw another sketches when I make characters for animation anyway.
I found it fun to think about character's background such as age, job, phobia and favorite food.

Sketch brain.
It's been a while since I haven't go outside to sketch, so today I went to my friend's place, and then I spend some time to sketch ppl on the train and bus. I felt my brain of sketching got rust since I haven't drawn from life for a long time. It's always good to draw from life. well, Monkey was from my imagination tho. I'd better be going more sketch in the near future.
After I got home, I read official annoucement of Pixar acquisition. (well, finally announced officially.) I don't have much to say actually, maybe this is a good thing, I don't hate WDFA, I'm more like love them, but I just felt sad.
I was really big fan of Macromedia when I was in high school. First software I bought was Macromedia Freehand. I was really fascinated by that.
Then I learned Maya to do character animation. I really enjoyed to learn MEL script because it was easy for me to learn, since I had a programming background in past job. Maya has been great tool I've ever had other than pencil.
And then, of course, the reason why I'm here and studying character animation is just because there was a movie called Toy Story back in 1995.
You know what I say.

Hell yeah!
Yea, I called school today for registering next semester, then school already got list from Pixar. So guess what, I got in. Hooray! I cannot tell you enough how nervous I was about this.
I finally got some comforts now then, after I take some rest, I will be reading Survival Kit and my class notes again as my preparation for next Pixar 2 class. I might post my wip of animation I'm working on now.

Finally my web site is up.
I finally got my domain, so I spend some time to update my latest animations/drawings I've been working on recently.
Besides drawing as my hobby, main thing I'm learning at school is Character Animation. We do have a special class called "Pixar class" here in AAU, which is taught by animators from Emeryville. Luckily I passed demo reel review for last semester, then I have been taught by Spline Doctors last 4 months. With two of great talents, Angus MacLane and Scott Clark, I cannot tell enough how much I've learned from them.
Even tho I upload some of my recent animations, I'm not pretty much satisfied with the stuff I've done so far. Well, I've never been satisfied with my drawing either, I guess that's how it is. I just upload what I could do by now, then I will see the way I will go to next.
I will be working on animation exercises for rest of the holiday.

Useful tools
Alright. It's been a while, I must admit. I was like movie crazy. I watched a lot of movies lately. I mean A LOT. Mainly classics that I missed. Since I'm such a shameful animator who just realized how important to learn a movie is lately, I have tons of movies to catch up. I really like "One flew over the cuckoo's nest".
Alright then, there is my new web site coming up soon with new animations, before then, I have some infomations about useful tools to introduce. Hope this helps some of you.
"Paint tool Sai" http://www.systemax.jp/
After I did this drawing with this Japanese software, a lot of my friends asked me how I got that line quality with my small Wacom. Sai is Japanese painting software, which means you, almost every visitors in this blog, cannot use it without some struggles. But trust me on this, it's worth to try. This software was designed for Japanese comic artists who wants to draw as easy as possible in PC. This software interpolates your strokes so that your storkes won't vibrate anymore. This software even have vector mode for line editing, so that we can edit CP later to reshape the curve. We can change line weight, too. Thicker, thinner or whatever you want. Most importantly this software is still in development, what we can get right now is beta version of software which will be selling for future. I'm not sure if developper thinks of making English version of it. I guess he does.
"Google Reader" http://www.google.com/reader/lens/
I found this lately, since I'm checkig over 15 blogs and news, I always wanted to have smart way to check them all really quick and easy. But I don't like to have another software just for checking RSS. I was feeding some RSS in to my personalized Google homepage, but this new Google Reader seems really cool. Well, like anyone else, I'm kind of Google freak. There is a beauty in simplicity.
